Basketball was a good poem because of the symbolism in it. The symbolism was good because it was well hidden so it was not figured out easily and it made seance. That is why i thought that it was a good poem. 

what is a Mantel

The mantel is something that is in the center of the earth. It is a big ball of molten mettle that is formed at the center of the earth. That is what a mantel is.

Point of View of SEAL Warrior

Authors Note: This is going to be a different point of view of the book SEAL Warrior by Thomas H. Keith.

           

            SEAL Warrior is an autobiography by Navy SEAL Thomas H. Keith and is about his story of Vietnam. I think that this book would have been different from the other members of the platoon or the enemy VC or NVA. I think this because the other platoon members are with him all the time. Also the enemy is always encountering them.

           

            One view that would be different would be Big A1 the heavy machine gunner in the platoon. It would be different because he is one of the guys that is always in the line of fire and is the one who holds down the enemy fire. Also it would be different because he is the guy who would be getting shot at the most because he was the support guy and he had the biggest gun. So Big A1’s story would be different then what was told by the author.

    

            The point of view from the enemy would definitely be different. Their point of view would be different because they would be walking thought the jungle and then out of know where there would be an ambush by the SEALs. So they would be thinking that the aria was safe then they would have a grenade or two go off and they would not know where it came from then they would be getting shot at from more than likely they would be getting shot at from several directions. So then there story would be different than the authors point of view if they survived.

             The point of view of My Lee who was the author’s girl friend while he was in Vietnam would be different than what he had said what happened. Her point of view would be different because she was the one how had found most of the information that had helped the SEAL platoon in finding the VC, NVA and VC tax collectors camp sites, locations and hideouts. She would have a different point of view also because she was only talked about when the author was not on an OP. So My Lee would have a different point of view than the author.     

       

            The point of view of the author would be different than the people that were talked about in this. The view of the VC and the NVA would be different than the authors. The same goes for Big A1 and My Lee.

Conflict resolution for Friedrich

            In the book Friedrich the main character is a young Jewish boy named Friedrich and he is living in Germany in the 1930s. Friedrich is 10 years old at the beginning of the book then the book jumps 3 years ahead so then he is 13. His mother is killed shortly after he is expelled from school Then his father is deported. So now Friedrich is all alone because his friend’s parents would not help him because of his religion. So now he has no were to live and no one would help him. Then more at the end of the book there is an air raid and  his friends parents would not let him in to the air raid bunker so he had no were to hide from the bombs. So one of the two solutions were that Friedrich could have said that he was not from a Jewish family. The other is that he could have tried to leave the city instead of staying there.          

Microorganisms for Energy

Authors Note: This is about how microorganisms can be sued as a full source.

            Would you ever think that microorganisms could give us energy to power our cars or homes? Well scientists are starting to come up with a way to use microorganisms to give us energy. They are finding ways to make fuel for cars less harmful to the environment and making energy more efficient for homes. These are the ways that they are using microorganisms to make fuel and energy for our cars and homes.

            For fuel for cars they are putting micro organisms in to the fuels to make it less of a pollutant. Also they are also putting them in to car fuel to make the cars run on less fuel and be more efficient. This can help with green house gasses and other global whether related problems.

            Then for the homes they are using microorganisms to make more efficient heat and electricity for our home. The heating for homes would be a good idea because then you would have to pay less for heating in a home. So then more people would be able to own their own home. Then there would be less homeless people.

            Using microorganisms would be a good thing to do. Not only would microorganisms be better for the environment it would also save money. So using microorganisms would be better for the environment.   

Evaluation of The Lottery

The lottery was a good story to me because it had a good story line. Parts that made this good was the events such as when Tessie was doing dishes and she was the last one to arrive at the lottery drawing. And when Tessie was the last one to arrive then she was the one to get picked to get stoned. Also when Mr. Warner had sead that the lottery was tradition and that towns in the north had stopped doing it. 

Microorganisms for energy

Should microorganisms be used for energy? I think that they should because it can mack our lives more ephchiant and cleaner. They can do this by making the fuel for cars cleaner and less of a pollutant. Microorganisms can do the same for our homes by heating them more ephichantly. Both ways would work the same by putting the microorganisms in to the fuel source. 

U.S. Navy SEALs Part 2

Authors Note: This is about what the Navy SEALs have used in their arsenal since they were UDTs in World War II.

            In World War II there was an elite team of U.S. Navy divers Called UDTs (Underwater Demolition Teams). These teams had jump started the U.S. Navy Frog Men and the SEALs (SEa Air Land). Throughout every war we have fought in since WW II their weapons and tactics have been improving.

            In World War II the U.S. had ether really liked to do beach landings or that was the only way to get on to the enemy soil but to me I think that it was this usually the only way to get on to the enemy soil. After the Normandy beach landing and all the losses that had come from this military operation. We obtained these because the Army Air Corps had failed to take out the German artillery so we could not get our tanks up on the beach. But that was not the only reason we could not get tanks up on the shore it was because there were tank bearers that they could not get by and that is why we took all those losses. So the Navy had an answer to this UDTs. UDTs were small teams of elite navy divers that would usually carry a M3 Grease gun matches or a lighter for a small bag with 8 bricks of C4 explosives. They would only be wearing an air tank, diving mask and their under wear. What they would is go ashore and take out the tank barriers so they could go ashore they would also take out submarine nets and small dams.

            During World War II the navy had realized that UDTs were good but they weren’t always the best because they were only deploy able by bout. So yet again the navy had a response to this and the Navy Frog Men were born. The Frog Men were basically UDTs that would be air born and would be parachuted in to the water so they could infiltrate the beaches with more stealth. They were called Frog Men because they would operate in the water and on land just like frogs. Although they were armed with the same equipment as the UDTs they were slightly more effective. Frog Men were some of the most effective special ops groups and were used from WW II through some of Vietnam War but they are still used today but not as often.

   

            Jumping forward to the Vietnam War were the U.S. had started fighting in a new kind of war that the U.S. has never fought in before we were fighting in a guerrilla war with the VC (Vietcong) and the NVA (North Vietnamese Army). So to fight the enemy John F. Kennedy had decided to make the U.S. Navy SEALs to fight the guerrilla war. When the SEALs were formed they were not given the greatest gun and other weapons and tools to use in the field so they found themselves making their own upgrades to their standard issue M16A1, M60 machine guns, Stoner 63s and LAAW rockets. They were also issued M18Claymores, M67 Fragmentation grenades and C4 explosives. The gun that they made the biggest self improvements was the M60 Machine gun. The improvements that they would make was they would take of the butt stock, 4-6 inches of the barrel, the front and rear sights and the bi-pod then they would put in tracer round so they could see where there shots would go. The SEALs went given their own vehicles so they started stealing Jeeps and trucks from the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps and when they would take them they would re paint them and put new serial numbers on them. Seals have their own tactics for every mission so they never had a specific type of tactics for the Vietnam War. But one tactic that was commonly used was to hit the enemy with everything that they had and to make a force of 10-12 men seem like a force of 35-40 men to a force of 50-55 VC or NVA and it usually worked. SEALs weren't considered divisions or platoons they were teams that would be divided it to platoons. When the SEALs were first in vented there were only 2 teams now there are 12 teams that I now of currently. The tactics of the seals today but what they will do in today’s war that they did not do in Vietnam is that they will try to blend in with the natives so they are not discovered by the enemy. In today’s war they will use a lot of the same guns except for the M60. The guns that replaced that are the M240B and the M249SAW and they use the M4A1 carbine. So SEALs have come a long way since they were born in the Vietnam War.

            If you look at how fare SEALs have come since they were known as UDTs in WW II. If we didn’t have UDTs in World War II the U.S. might not have won the war. In Vietnam without the SEALs the U.S. might not have captured as many Vietnamese Officer, Tax collectors and other officials. So without the UDTs, Frog Men and SEALs we would not have had the SOCOM forces that we have today to protect our county.

Big Yellow Taxi and Field Below response

Authors Note: This is about "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Field Below"

These are to poems that relay describe today's society and its ups and downs. "Big Yellow Taxi" is the one that shows more of the good thing about having trees but having a city. Then "Field Below" shows more of the down sides to living in a city that dose not have any nature in it. The tone of "Big Yellow Taxi"is a little bit more relaxed and existing so it gets you positive about nature and pollution. But "Field Below" is a little bit more of a depressing tone to it so it gets you into a depressed mood.

Chocolate Milk

Chocolate milk you are so creamy and sweet

you are like a moist chocolate cake

poem review

In the poem Mother to son there is figurative language such as when the mother compares her life to going up stairs that are not perfect. The figurative language going up stairs is saying that life is not easy and that there are always opsticals to go over.The tone of the poem is soft and kind with a southern ascent.

Cole's Character

Cole is a teen boy that was put on an island. He was sent there because he had smashed a kids face into the sidewalk. So he was given the choice of going to jail or circal Justis so he pikes Circal Justis and he was given a punishment of surviving on an island in Alaska for a year.

When Cole got back from the island he had changed both mentally and physically. Cole is now taller and thinner than before he had went to the island and his skin is pale and he is also more muscular than before he went to the island. Now that he is back from the island he now has more respect for people and life.

Garvey’s purpose in Touching Spirit Bear

Authors Note: This Is about Garvey’s point in the story Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen.

In Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen is Garvey a good character for this story? What kind of affects does he have on Cole Matthews? Garvey’s purpose in the story is to help Cole through his recent crime. But does his help just make Cole's anger worse?

Garvey in Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen is a parole officer for Cole Matthews. Now when Cole smashes Peter Driscal’s face in to the side of a side walk, Garvey gave Cole the choice of risking the chance of going to jail or go to Circle Justice. When Cole was given the choice, he took the Circle Justus because he did not want to go to jail. Garvey keeps trying to help out Cole but he keeps blaming the world for everything that happens to him.

Garvey's purpose is to be there for Cole, to be someone who will steer him in the right direction. Garvey tried to show Cole that everything that happens to him is not because of everyone ells by having him eat all the ingredients of a cake then asked him how the ingredients tasted. Cole said that they tasted bad and nasty. Then he had given him a slice of cake and asked how that tasted. Then Cole said that the cake tasted grate and Garvey said that you can’t just keep blaming people for what happens to you. Garvey wanted Cole to see how every small thing matters.

Another example is when Garvey had went to Cole and suggested that he should try Circle Justice so he would not go to jail. He had brought that to Cole because he cares for Cole and Cole reminded Garvey of him self when he was his age.

Every time Garvey sees to Cole he tries to help him get him through what he is going through but Cole keeps refusing to cooperate with Garvey. However by the end of the book Cole feels that Garvey is more of a friend than he is a parole officer. Garvey made Cole face his anger so that he could overcome what gets him so angered. Now Cole is trying to be nicer to people so he doesn't end up were he was.

Cole's Anger

Rage controlled Cole’s hand as he drew back, paused for a split second, and then flipped the lighted match in to the shelter. This sentence is important because it shows how angered coal is. And it also shows how he really feels about the cecal justice.

Touching Spirit Bear Setting

Authors Note: this is about the setting of Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen

So far in Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen the main character Cole Matthews is put on an uninhabited island in Alaska. He was put there when he decided to join circle Justice Instead of being put in to jail. While on the island there was a cabin that was built for him to live in and it had all the supplies that he needed to survive. Then After a few hours on the island he was still angry about being there so he ran in to the cabin and covered everything with coarsen and found the matches and burned the cabin down with all the supplies that he needed to survive. Now while the cabin was burning he thought about trying to swim to the nearest island and island hop until he gets to the main land so he could escape and live a normal life.

The Long Rain

Authors Note: This is about how a kid’s summer is ruined by the constant rain.

This summer was a very weird one because it rained almost every other day. If it had stopped raining the ground was to muddy to even play outside so we couldn’t play outside. Also since we had a river in are back yard it started to flood in to are yard and so we could not play outside. And just up the river there was a dam. Days of rain had swelled the river, floods threatened to break loose. So my mother told me that if I go outside I could not go by the river. So now the rain has just about rend my summer and now I have nothing to do inside.

SEAL Warrior Prediction

Authors Note: This piece is about the book SEAL Warrior and what I thought what was going to happen later in the book.

The book SEAL Warrior by Thomas H. Keith is about the life story of a Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War. The main character in this book wants to be a Navy SEAL so he joins the Navy and is told that he has to meat cretin requirements. One of the requirements that he has to meat is to have two years in the fleet. Then after he gets back from his first deployment he met up with some family friends and they were in the navy and new an officer that could get him in to SEALs training without the requirements.
When the main character got to seals training he had arrived two weeks before with some other people. He and the other people arrived at then so that they could have a 2 week conditioning class before the training. Then when the real training for class 30 started the author said “To this day I thank God that I went through the summer class, and I have a lot of respect for the men who survived the winter training.”
Next in SEAL Warrior I think that when the main character will gets out of seals training. When he dose I think that he is going to go to other trainings before he does his deployment. Then when he gets deployed he will go to Vietnam. That is the prediction that I made for this book

Dead Men’s Path

Authors Note: This is about what I thought might happen after the inspector looked at the school.

Dead Men’s Path by Chinua Achebe is about a man how is well educated and is the headmaster of a school in 1949. The school is not up to date with most of the other schools in the time. So the headmaster wanted to improve the school and he was being greedy and self centered on rebuilding the school. When he wants to get rid of the path that belonged to the tribe that lived in the aria. The path ran in front of the school and he wanted to get rid of it so he could clean up the school. But the villagers did not want him to destroy it so then when the inspector came they went and tore down some of the sheds and fences that belonged to the school. So the school did not pass the inspection.
Now I think that now that he does not have the school any more he will get fired from his job. And he will lose his family and the villagers will repair the school and have it the way they want it to be. Or they will just move the school to another location so it does not inter fear with their path. That is what I think is going to happen.
